Accessibility.
What we have done, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.
We want this site usable by everyone who needs to move freight, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or reduced motion settings. This page says plainly what we have done, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.
What we are aiming at
We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, Level AA. We are not claiming a formal audit or certification. This is a statement of intent and of the specific work actually done.
What is in place
- Keyboard. Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, including the shipment stages and the state map. Focus is always visible, and a skip link takes you straight to the content.
- Structure. One
h1per page and headings in order, so a screen reader can navigate by heading rather than reading everything. - Forms. Every field has a visible label attached to it, not a placeholder standing in for one. Errors are announced in text, not by colour alone.
- Live regions. The shipment tracker and the coverage map announce changes as you move through them.
- Motion. If your system is set to reduce motion, the moving hero renders a single still frame and never starts its loop, road markings stop travelling, the headlight effect is removed, and transitions collapse. Nothing on this site auto-plays with sound.
- Colour. Body and heading text is checked for contrast against its background. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Images. Photographs carry alternative text. The animated hero and the cab overlay are decorative and are hidden from assistive technology so they are not read out as noise.
Known limitations
Stating these is more useful than claiming perfection.
- The hero animation and the coverage map are visual by nature. The information they carry is repeated in text nearby, but the visual experience itself is not equivalent.
- The load builder draws a route line. The same result is also given in words, as distance and estimated transit time.
- We have tested with keyboard navigation and with reduced motion enabled. We have not yet completed a full audit with every major screen reader.
